Subject charged in Armed Robbery
FREDERICK, MD – On 5/2/2017 at approximately 2204 hours Officers from the Frederick Police Department were dispatched to 100 Hill Street, the Hill Street Park, for a report of an armed robbery in progress. Upon arriving to the area, the victim advised a B/M had robbed him at gunpoint and was fleeing the park in a Kia. Officers in the area were able to locate the Kia and attempted to stop it.
At that time the suspect, later identified as LaSalle Solomon Whitfield fled the vehicle on foot. A short foot chase ensued and the suspect fled into a farm off Butterfly Lane. A perimeter was quickly established and a K9 track was attempted. The suspect was located a short distance from where he was last seen on the same farm. He was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was transported to FPD HQ for questioning before being taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. At this time Mr. Whitfield is awaiting to be seen by a District Court Commissioner and is charged with the following;
1 Count of Armed Robbery
1 Count of Robbery
2 Counts of 1st Degree Assault
1 Count of Reckless Endangerment
1 Count of Handgun on Person
1 Count of use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime
