Suspect in custody for Stabbing on Heather
Ridge Drive
FREDERICK, MD – On 4/20/2017 at approximately 0940hours
Officers from the Frederick Police Department were dispatched to 1000 Heather
Ridge Drive for a report of a stabbing.
Upon arrival Officers were able to render aid to the victim who sustained
a stab wound to the upper torso. He was
later transported to a local medical facility.
He is in serious but stable condition at this time.
A perimeter was quickly established and it was determined
that the suspect was in a nearby apartment within the same complex. The suspect, later identified as Kareem Avery
Charles (24YO B/M of the 1000BLK of Heather Ridge Dr.), was taken into custody
without further incident. He was
transported to FPD HQ for questioning before being taken to the FCADC.
It is believed that a verbal altercation started between
the victim and a female inside an apartment.
Mr. Charles then injected himself into the altercation and assaulted the
victim.
At this time Mr. Charles is at the FCADC and waiting to be seen by a
District Court Commissioner. Mr. Charles
is charged with the following;
1 count of 1st Degree Assault
1 count of 2nd Degree Assault
1 Count of Reckless Endangerment
