FPD Detectives charge suspect on 3
robberies and a burglary
FREDERICK, MD – On 03/19/2017 at approximately 1701 hours
members of the Frederick Police Department responded to the 177 Thomas Johnson
Drive (Subway) for a report of an Armed Robbery that had just occurred. The male entered the Subway, brandished a
Silver handgun and took money from the register. Utilizing surveillance footage, Detectives
were able to get a description of a White Male, approximately 5’11” wearing a black mask
covering his mouth and nose, and a camo colored hoodie. A K-9 track led officers into Amber Meadows
where the track stopped on the street.
On 3/23/17 at approximately 0110 hours members of the Frederick Police
Department responded to 204 Amber Drive (7-11) for a report of an Armed Robbery
that had just occurred. The male entered
the 7-11, retrieved a drink from the refrigerator and when the clerk rang him
up the suspect brandished a silver handgun and took the money from the
register. Utilizing the surveillance
footage Detectives were able to get the description of a white male wearing a
black mask covering his mouth and nose, camo colored hoodie, dark colored coat,
camo pants and white shoes. A K-9 track
led officers into Amber Meadows where the track stopped on the street.
On 3/23/17 at approximately 2024 hours members of the
Frederick Police Department responded to the PNC bank at 1305 West 7th
Street for a report of an Armed Robbery.
The suspect, described as a white male in a dark colored jacket with a black
mask covering his nose and mouth, approached the victim at the ATM. The suspect brandished a silver handgun and
demanded money. Utilizing the surveillance
footage Detectives were able to confirm that it was the same suspect as the
previous two robberies.
On 4/3/17 Det. Irons received camera footage from the red light cameras
in the area of Oposumtown Pike. During
his review of the footage he observe a dark colored truck with distinct
markings coming and going around the time of the robbery at the 7-11. He then disseminated this information the
members of FPD.
On 04/04/17 plain-clothes officers were in the area and observed a dark colored
pickup truck commit a motor vehicle violation.
This vehicle matched the description provided by Det. Irons. Based on the violation a traffic stop was
attempted and the suspect vehicle fled.
Officers were unable to relocate the vehicle.
On 4/5/17 at approximately 0229 hours members of the Frederick Police
Department responded to a report of a Burglary at the same Subway located at
177 Thomas Johnson Drive. In this case,
a white male wearing a dark hooded jacket, blue pants and grey, white and black
colored shoes, broke the front glass door. He then entered the store and took the cash
register. Based on the surveillance
footage it was determined that this incident occurred at earlier in the evening,
and about the same time the Officer attempted to stop the dark colored truck.
On 4/5/17 Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit were able to locate the
dark colored pickup truck in the area of the 300 BLK of Heather Ridge
Drive. The registered owner, Sean Shorb,
was seen in the area coming and going from his vehicle. Shorb was identified as the individual that
fled from officers the night before.
Shorb was detained and brought back to FPD HQ for questioning. Members of the Street Crimes Unit secured the
house and a Search Warrant was served on Mr. Shorbs’ residence. Evidence from the above incidents were
recovered during the execution of the Search Warrant.
At this time Mr. Shorb is at the FCADC waiting to be seen by a District
Court Commissioner. Mr. Shorb has been
charged with the following;
3 counts of ASSAULT-FIRST
DEGREE
3 counts of RECKLESS
ENDANGERMENT
3 counts of THEFT: LESS $1,000 VALUE
3 counts of ARMED ROBBERY
1 count of
BURGLARY- SECOND DEGREEASSAULT-FIRST DEGREE
1 count of THEFT: LESS $100 VALUE
