On the above date and time Lt. Hibbard of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Reichs Ford Rd. just outside city limits.
On the above date and time Lt. Hibbard of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Reichs Ford Rd. just outside city limits. During the traffic stop he developed suspicion that property contain within the vehicle had been stolen. The property in question was a quantity of steel piping as well as a quantity of rebar. Suspecting the material may have been stolen from a location within the city, he requested the Frederick Police Department to respond. Members of the Frederick Police Department’s Directed Patrol Unit responded to assist.
Through additional questioning and follow-up investigation it was learned the property was in fact stolen. The driver, who was identified as Zachary A Flanary, and the passenger, who is a juvenile, admitted to taking the property from a Morgan Keller construction site off of Monocacy Blvd. They did not have permission to take the property, and they planned on scrapping the metal and splitting the profits at a later date.
The adult, Zachary Flanary, was arrested and transported to central booking for processing without incident. The juvenile was released to parental custody, and charges are being referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
