FPD Detectives investigating a body found
in Monocacy River
FREDERICK, MD – On 02/28/2017 at approximately 1033 hours
members of the Frederick Police Department responded to a report of a body
possibly floating in the Monocacy River near the bridge of Monocacy Blvd. The first responding officers attempted to
render aid to the individual and pulled him from the water. All attempts to revive the male were
unsuccessful.
Being as it is the Monocacy River FPD Detectives consulted
with the FCSO and DNR. It was determined
through the discussion that FPD will remain the lead investigation agency for
this case.
The victim has been identified as 25 year old Matthew
Thomas Delash, of Woodsboro Maryland.
Delash had been reported missing through the FCSO on 2/27/17. Delash has been transported to the Office of
the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and to determine the cause and manner
of death.
