On 01-25-2017, at 10:39 pm, an officer of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit was patrolling in the area of N. Bentz Street at W. Fifth Street, which is Frederick, MD. The officer observed a tan Mercedes sedan commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was initiated and conducted at N. Bentz Street and Carroll Parkway. The officer made contact with the driver and immediately detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle’s passenger compartment.
The driver, who was identified as Nathaniel Anthony Bowie, was removed and placed under arrest for the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. A search of the driver revealed a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana. No additional CDS was located on Bowie’s person. During the vehicle search, an additional bag of suspected marijuana was located in the center console. The total weight of suspected marijuana removed from Bowie and Bowie’s vehicle was 22.8 grams.
Bowie was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
