Officers from the Frederick Police will be out in force during the holiday season working to keep the roads safe from drunk and drugged drivers. The department conducts several saturation patrols and checkpoints throughout the year specifically targeting drunk and drugged drivers. These saturation patrols are conducted to promote awareness and reduce the number of alcohol-impaired drivers on the roads.
Traffic crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for Maryland residents. The Frederick Police Department urges drivers to always drive sober, obey the speed limit, wear a seat belt and eliminate distractions. If you see an impaired driver on the road, please call 911.
This enforcement is being conducted in partnership with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration's Highway Safety Office as part of a year-long campaign to keep Frederick area roads safe for residents and travelers.
