[ARCHIVED] 57th Frederick Police Academy Graduation

The Frederick Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of the 57th Frederick Police Academy class on June 24, 2016

On Friday June 24, 2016 at 1:00pm the Frederick Police Department will host its graduation for the 57th Frederick Police Academy. The graduation ceremony will be held at the Weinberg Center, which is located at 20 West Patrick Street, Frederick, Maryland.

The 57th Frederick Police Academy began on November 9, 2015 and encompassed 1,264 hours of training in a multitude of topics. The 57th Frederick Police Academy consists of 16 officers from 7 different agencies. The agencies represented include the Frederick Police Department, the Frederick County Sheriffs Office, the Washington County Sheriffs Office, the Carroll County Sheriffs Office, the Gaithersburg Police Department, the Annapolis Police Department and the Rockville Police Department.

The Student Officers are identified below:

Deputy Nicholas Fazenbaker: Deputy Fazenbaker is 22 years old and is with the Washington County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Fazenbaker graduated from Hagerstown Community College with a AA in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy, Deputy Fazenbaker worked as a security officer at Meritus Medical Center.

Deputy Robert Fritz: Deputy Fritz is 29 years old and is with the Frederick County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Fritz graduated from Frostburg State University with a BA in Business Administration. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Deputy Fritz worked as a correctional officer for 4 years.

Deputy Mark Grove: Deputy Grove is 22 years old and is with the Washington County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Grove graduated from Alvernia University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Deputy Grove worked for Jernigan's Land Cleaning.

Officer Kyle Khuen: Officer Khuen is 22 years old and is with the Gaithersburg Police Department. Officer Khuen graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Khuen was an intern with the Gaithersburg Police Department's Street Crimes Unit.

Officer Margery Lee: Officer Lee is 30 years old and is with the Frederick Police Department. Officer Lee attended the University of Delaware where she studied Entomology. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Lee worked for Budget & Avis Car and Truck Rental as a supervisor.

Officer Brian Lucas: Officer Lucas is 30 years old. Officer Lucas graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Criminology. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Lucas worked as a security guard for the Carnegie Mellon University Police Department and as a seasonal police officer for the Ocean City Police Department.

Deputy Kevin McGinnis: Deputy McGinnis is 26 years old and is with the Carroll County Sheriffs Office. Deputy McGinnis graduated from Stevenson University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Deputy McGinnis worked at Lowes Home Improvement.

Officer James McNeal: Officer McNeal is 28 years old and with the Rockville Police Department. Officer McNeal graduated from Citadel with a degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer McNeal served for 5 years as a police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Officer William Noel Jr.: Officer Noel is 38 years old and is with the Annapolis Police Department. Officer Noel graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Kinesiology. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Noel was the head trainer at the Mint Health Club in Washington, DC.

Officer Louis Seek: Officer Seek is 27 years old and is with the Gaithersburg Police Department. Officer Seek graduated from Montgomery College with an AA in Criminal Justice. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Seek served in the US Army as a tank gunner.

Officer Christopher Sharpe: Officer Sharpe is 30 years old and is with the Frederick Police Department. Officer Sharpe graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Sharpe also served in the US Army for years. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Sharpe worked as a Deputy for the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office.

Officer Grant Smith: Officer Smith is 24 years and is with the Frederick Police Department. Officer Smith graduated from Frostburg State University with a degree in Geography. Officer Smith is currently a member of the National Guard. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy Officer Smith worked for the National Park Service.

Deputy Shawn Ullrich: Deputy Ullrich is 23 years old and is with the Carroll County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Ullrich graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Cinema and English. Prior to attending the Frederick Police Academy worked for Safeway.

Deputy Dakota Watkins: Deputy Watkins is 26 years old and with the Washington County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Watkins served with the US Army as an infantryman after High School.

Officer Jacki Weddle: Officer Weddle is 36 years old and is with the Frederick Police Department. Officer Weddle graduated from the American Military University with a degree in Hospitality Management. Officer Weddle is currently the Fitness Superintendent for the West Virginia Air National Guard's 167th Airlift Wing.

Deputy Canton Whisner: Deputy Whisner is 22 years old and is with the Frederick County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Whisner graduated from Keyser High School and is currently a Corporal in the US Marine Corps Reserve. Prior to the Academy Deputy Whisner worked for Whisner Transportation as a truck driver.
