The Frederick Police Department is proud to announce the revitalization of the Frederick Police Explorer Post. The Explorer program is a youth development program designed for youth between the ages of 14-20 who have an interest in a law enforcement career. Applicants must be of good character and pass a background check.
While enrolled in the program the Explorers will participate in training similar to academy training, participate in scenario competitions, attend special events, and have the opportunity to attend a National Conference. Police Officers within the Frederick Police Department manage and participate in the program. The Officers have direct contact with the Explorers. The Officers are given the opportunity to mentor and direct the Explorers in order to facilitate a positive learning environment.
The Department will host an Open House recruiting event on June 22, 2016 from 5PM-9PM. The event will take place at 140 West Patrick Street, the City of Frederick Annex building. During the open house advisors will be on hand to provide information regarding the program and provide application paperwork.
If you know someone who is between the ages of 14-20 who has a sincere interest in a law enforcement career please encourage them to attend the open house.
