On 04/13/2016 at approximately 1012 hrs, Officers with the Frederick Police Department were dispatched to a drug complaint in the area of the 200 block of South Jefferson Street. When officers arrived they contacted the suspect, later identified as David Franklin Anders Sr. During the course of this investigation, officers determined that Anders was impaired and ordered Anders to remove the keys from his ignition and step out of his vehicle. At this time Anders put his vehicle in drive and pulled away as OFC Inman was attempting to remove the keys from the ignition. This action caused OFC Inman to be dragged a short distance until other back up officers were able to get the vehicle stopped at the intersection of South Jefferson Street and Scholls Lane. Anders was then extracted from the vehicle and placed under arrest. During a search of Ander’s vehicle a cigarette dipped in Phencyclidine (PCP) was located.
Two officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident, but have since returned to duty.
Anders was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing where he is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
