Freecycle Roundup Scheduled for Saturday, April 23
Event Now Includes Document Shredding
Frederick, MD March 22, 2016 – As Earth Day approaches, the City of Frederick announces the next Freecycle Roundup! The event will be Saturday, April 23 from 8am-2pm. The Freecycle Roundup provides Frederick City residents the opportunity to dispose of large bulk items that they no longer need. The City will be staging the Roundup at the City Department of Public Works (DPW) located at 111 Airport Drive East, near the MVA.
The City previously conducted costly curbside bulk trash collection, but discovered that a large percentage of items set out for bulk trash were actually still serviceable, or could be repurposed. The Freecycle Roundup provides a cost effective way for residents to dispose of bulk items and fewer useful items end up in the landfill, more items recycled, and local non-profits benefit from the donated items.
New to the Freecycle Roundup, this event includes FREE document shredding for City residents provided by All-Shred.
Freecycle Roundup is for City of Frederick residents only. No sign-up or registration is required to drop off items. ID’s will be checked to verify proof of residency.
Again this year the City will offer limited pickup of bulk items through the Frederick Community Action Agency. Pickup will only be provided to those City residents who schedule in advance. Pickups will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Pickup will not be available for document shredding, all documents for shredding must be brought to the site by City residents.
City residents interested in scheduling a FREE pickup must contact John at 301-600-6995 by Friday, April 15.
