On 03-13-2016, at approximately 3:33 AM, Frederick City Police Officers responded to the area of Blossom Lane and Wilson PL for a theft of a trailer that had just occurred. Upon arrival the victim advised that they were awoken by loud banging noises outside of their house. When they looked outside they saw two men stealing their duel axle pull behind trailer. The victim advised that numerous pieces of lawn care equipment were inside of the trailer totaling over $10,000.
Frederick City Police Officers quickly began to search the area for the suspects and stolen trailer. As they were searching a Frederick County Sheriff Deputy conducted a traffic stop on RT 180 near Jefferson, MD. The deputy had stopped the suspects and the stolen trailer due to the fact that the suspects had failed to hook up the lights for the trailer to their vehicle. At the time of the traffic stop the deputy did not know that the suspects and trailer were involved in the incident in Frederick City. The deputy soon realized that the trailer was stolen and Frederick City officers responded.
Upon arriving at the scene officers were able to confirm that the trailer that the deputy had stopped was the stolen one. Both suspects were arrested. The suspects were identified as John Michael Calder Jr and John Robert Wilson.
Both suspects were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. They were each charged with Theft Over $10,000 and Burglary Tools.
