Frederick Police Detectives are conducting a death investigation Thursday morning

The Frederick Police Department is releasing the following information regarding the death investigation of a deceased man located in Rock Creek Thursday morning:
Detectives have identified the deceased to be Santos Garcia, a 49 year old man, of Frederick, MD.
The investigation has determined the death of Garcia to be an accidental drowning. Detectives believe Garcia was seeking shelter in a tunnel of Rock Creek prior to the storm that came through Wednesday evening. Due to the significant rainfall amount there was major flooding to Rock Creek and the drainage tunnels.
No further information is going to be provided regarding this death in respect to the surviving family members.

On 02/25/2016 at approximately 8:21 AM the Frederick Police Department received report of a male person lying in the creek in the Willowdale Park near Willowdale Drive in Frederick, Maryland.
Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased male in the creek. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate this incident. Detectives are handling this as a death investigation at this time attempting to determine a cause of death. Det. Kevin Forrest has been assigned as the lead investigator on this case.
The name and other identifiers of the deceased are not being released at this time to allow for notification of family.
