On 02/05/2016 at approximately 1:55 AM Frederick Police Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of North Market Street. Officers arrived within seconds and located the victim at the time suffering from stab wounds to his lower torso. The suspect was walking away from the scene and was ordered to stop. Upon being ordered to stop, suspect fled the area and a foot chase ensued. The suspect was immediately apprehended and while running tossed a folding knife. The victim was flown to Shock trauma for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Detective Renninger was assigned as the lead investigator in this incident. Through the subsequent investigation Detective Renninger was able to fully identify the suspect in this case to be Jamal Wilson, DOB 03/12/1980. The investigation revealed that Wilson approached the victim in the 600 block of North Market Street. A verbal then physical altercation ensued and Wilson stabbed the victim without provocation. The victim and suspect were likely to be known to one another prior to the assault.
Information and evidence obtained linked Jamal Wilson to the assault. Wilson was later transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without incident where he awaits an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
Detectives are actively investigating all additional aspects as it relates to this incident.
