The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team arrested a Frederick man for vehicle theft
On 04/15/2015, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of 1035 West Patrick Street, in Frederick City, in reference to a stolen vehicle.
When officers arrived on scene, they contacted the victim. The victim advised he left his moped in a parking space while he was at work, and when he returned, the moped was missing.
On that same date, Officer Justin Thomas located a person driving a moped at a high rate of speed in the area of Center Street and Prospect Boulevard. Officer Thomas attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle; however, the driver of the moped quickly pulled into an apartment complex and fled on foot. Officer Thomas was assigned as the lead investigator of the stolen vehicle. Through his investigation, information was gathered and evidence from the crime scene was located and processed. It was through this information and evidence that the suspect was positively identified.
Criminal charges were applied for, charging Kenneth Marshall Wims (DOB 11/05/1993) with theft of a motor vehicle. Kenneth Wims was served with a criminal summons on 01/26/2016, at the Frederick Police Department Headquarters.
