UPDATE - Status of Post Snow Event in City
City Government Offices Closed Monday – City Snow Emergency Plan Remains in Effect

Frederick, MD – January 24, 2016: The City of Frederick continues to recover from the recent historic snow event. A massive amount of snow has fallen and it will take time to complete recovery from the event. The Snow Emergency Plan remains in effect for The City of Frederick. In addition, City Government offices will be closed on Monday,
January 24th

All five City parking garages will remain open for free parking until 6:00am Tuesday January 26th.

Due to the recent snow event, there will be NO City trash or yard waste collection on Monday, January 25, 2016. Do NOT set trash or yard waste out Sunday, January 24, 2016 for Monday, January 25, 2016 collection.

Once collection resumes, the Trash and Yard Waste-Monday scheduled areas will be collected in conjunction with Tuesday scheduled areas.
Downtown Commercial Business District Recycle collection will resume on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

If you have questions regarding trash and yard waste collection, please contact the City switchboard at 301-600-1440. Updates will be posted on City Media sites.
For residential recycling, please refer to the Frederick County schedule.

The following streets will be closed tonight at 8:00 PM as City Snow crews will begin snow removal. Until snow removal begins, please use extreme caution navigating these area as the streets remain narrow due to snow banks.

• Patrick Street at East Street (moving west)
• Market Street at South Street (moving north)


If your street hasn't been plowed yet, DPW Snow Crews ask you NOT to dig your car out yet.

Please use extreme caution on exit ramps especially on left and right turn lanes that are blocked with high banks of snow.

As you walk by buildings and under overpasses please be aware of falling and breaking ice cycles overhead, and exercise caution.

In a team effort to expedite the snow clearing process, Mayor McClement asks residents to please clear snow from around fire hydrants, street corners that are handicap accessible and storm drains to prevent flooding and ice formation on City streets.

The DPW Snow Team crews is working diligently and will continue to push snow overnight clearing all areas as quickly as possible. The City of Frederick thank you for yoru patience as we work together through this historic snow fall.

Please be aware of possible down trees and power lines. Report downed and low hanging power lines by calling 1.800.686.0011 and do not attempt to cross over or under the lines. Report downed trees by calling 301.600.1440.
