[ARCHIVED] Frederick Man Arrested For Series of Armed Robberies (CID)

Allen Hooks

A Frederick man was arrested Monday evening for a series of armed robberies

During the course of a three day period the Frederick Police Department responded to three separate armed robbery reports in the city of Frederick. Through the course of the follow-up investigations investigators have linked those three cases together.

The first complaint was received on Saturday January 9, 2016 at approximately 10:17 PM. Officers were dispatched to the A1 Mart located at 649 Himes Avenue Frederick, MD for an armed robbery that just occurred. The suspect in this case brandished a knife during the commission of robbing the store clerk. The suspect fled on foot from the store and despite law enforcement efforts was not immediately located. A description of the suspect was obtained by detectives and a press release was completed requesting assistance from the community in identifying the suspect.

The second complaint was received on Monday January 11, 2016 at approximately 5:06 PM. Officers were dispatched to the Pizza Hut Restaurant located at 1706 W Patrick Street Frederick, MD for an armed robbery that just occurred. The suspect in this case brandished a knife during the commission of robbing a restaurant employee. The description of the suspect in this case matched the description of the suspect in the A1 Mart robbery. Detectives began investigating this as a crime committed by the same suspect.

The third complaint was received later in the evening on Monday January 11, 2016 at 10:17 PM. Officers responded to the Dunkin Donuts Restaurant located at 1296 W Patrick Street Frederick, MD. This restaurant is located directly beside the Pizza Hut Restaurant robbed earlier in the evening. After reviewing surveillance footage from the Dunkin Donuts detectives determined this to be the same suspect as the previous two robberies.

The Frederick Police Department received numerous tips Monday evening regarding the photo that was released with the prior news release. Through a follow-up of those tips and surveillance video the suspect was identified by detectives to be Allen Michael Hooks of Frederick, MD.

Hooks was located shortly after the Dunkin Donuts robbery in a residence on Apple Way Frederick, MD. Detectives continued to work on this robbery series through the early morning hours Tuesday executing search warrants and conducting interviews. Evidence from that follow-up linked Hooks to all three crimes. Hooks was subsequently arrested without incident and charged in connection to the three armed robberies.

The Frederick Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance in providing information in these cases. The Frederick Police Department was also assisted by the Maryland State Police Aviation Division on Monday evening during the investigation of the Pizza Hut robbery.

These cases are still active and the Frederick Police Department is requesting anyone with additional information on any of these robberies to contact the Frederick Police Department at 301-600-2102. Anonymous information may be provided to the FPD Crime Tip Line at 301-600-TIPS. (8477)
