On 11/28/2015 at approximately 0403 hours, officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of North Market Street and East 3rd Street for a reported disorderly conduct. While units were in route additional information was received in regards to gunshots being fired in the area. Detective Forrest was later assigned as the lead investigator regarding the incident.
Detective Forrest was able to interview witnesses at the scene of the incident and later the owner of a club known as “The Green Door” in the 300 block of N. Market Street. This club is where the incident was determined to have occurred and was found to be holding after-hours events. The owner was identified as Donald Hill Smith. Smith was cooperative with detectives and admitted to holding two parties to raise money for remodeling of the building. During one of those parties a large fight occurred and Smith fired a handgun into the air to break up the fight.
On 12/21/2015 Detective Forrest applied for a statement of charges against Smith related to the Firearms Discharge within the city. A District Court Commissioner issued a Criminal Summons charging Smith with the below listed offense.
On 12/21/2015 at 5:45 PM, Detectives with the Frederick Police Department located the suspect in the 300 block of North Market Street, Frederick, MD and the criminal summons was served without incident.
