Mayor Appoints New Deputy Director of Public Works, Department of Parks and Recreation
Frederick, MD – November 20, 2015: Mayor Randy McClement is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Smith to the position of Deputy Director of Public Works Department of Parks and Recreation.
Mr. Smith brings with him 21 years of parks and recreation experience of which 19 have been spent with The City of Frederick as Recreation Supervisor. He has been responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of various recreation programs including program development, staffing, training and budgeting. Additionally, Bob has successfully managed various contracts and projects including oversight of the City’s public pools. He is a recognized member of the community and has been active in various organizations for youth sports. Additionally, Bob is an active member of MRPA (Maryland Recreation and Parks Association) through which he has benefited over the years from professional level training and statewide networking.
Mayor McClement said, “Bob is a strong leader and a respected member of the community. He not only possesses the knowledge and experience in parks and recreation to lead the Department, he also brings with him a creative and positive solution-oriented attitude and strong interpersonal skills which will empower him to be successful in his new role.”
Mr. Smith will oversee the Parks and Recreation Department under the Department of Public Works which includes all aspects of recreation programming, pools, parks maintenance and construction, City trees, the William Talley Fitness Center, and other facilities within the parks system.
