The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team has located and arrested one of two suspects involved in a commercial theft scheme
On 10-29-2015, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the Wal-Mart department store, located at 1811 Monocacy Boulevard, in reference to a theft.
During the investigation, it was found the initial theft occurred around 10:45 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. During the theft, two males entered the store within minutes of each other and placed merchandise in shopping carts they were pushing. After placing numerous items into their shopping carts, both suspects exited the store through an emergency exit, without paying for the merchandise.
Photographs and video surveillance of the suspects were obtained, showing the suspects entering and exiting the store. When the suspects left, they were observed walking toward a white or light colored four door vehicle, parked along Riverbend Way. Shortly after the suspects approached the vehicle, the vehicle was observed leaving the area.
The Frederick Police Department disseminated a press release with photographs of each suspect on 11-10-2015. On 11-12-2015, one of the male suspects was observed in the Wal-Mart store and the Frederick Police Department was contacted to respond. A member of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Wal-Mart and made contact with the male, identifying him as, Sean Gregory Nicholson. In Nicholson’s possession was a key to the emergency exit door, which is the same door the suspects previously used to exit after committing thefts.
Nicholson was arrested for an active arrest warrant through Washington County, and was interviewed by Officer First Class Kevin Myers, of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Team. Based on information obtained during the interview, and surveillance video footage at the Wal-Mart, the suspect was charged with committing thefts on three different occasions, stealing a total merchandise value in excess of $3,000.
Nicholson was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. There was a second suspect involved in this theft scheme, and the Frederick Police Department is actively following leads in the attempt to locate and identify this person.
