The City is looking to fill several vacancies on the Planning Commission and wants your help!
Are you interested in planning and zoning issues and helping to shape the future of the City? If so, the Planning Commission is a great opportunity to get involved!
The six member board is appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to review and approve a variety of applications for new developments including master plans for new mixed use projects, subdivision plans, site plans for residential and nonresidential construction as well as forest conservation plans. The Commission also plays a valuable role in setting goals for long term initiatives such as public infrastructure improvements, annexations, and the Comprehensive Plan.
The Commission meets three times monthly:
• At a regular public meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00pm at City Hall
• At a monthly workshop to review upcoming cases on the 3rd Monday of the month at 2:00 pm at the Municipal Annex Office Building
• At a monthly Pre-Planning Commission field trip in preparation of the regular meeting on the 1st Friday of the month at 3:00 pm at the Municipal Annex Office Building
The Commission is supported by a team of professional planning staff who provides analysis and background data on each application.
The Mayor’s office will soon be accepting letters of interest/resumes, so don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the process in moving Frederick forward!
