On March 6, 2012 the Frederick Police Department arrested a juvenile for attempted armed robbery.
On Tuesday March 6, 2012 at approximately 1720 hours officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of Prospect Boulevard and Center Street for the report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival officers located a juvenile victim and other juvenile witnesses in the area of Carrolton Park. The victim and witnesses advised that another juvenile approached the victim in the area of the park. The juvenile suspect told the victim to empty his pockets, at which point the victim ran away. A short time later the victim returned to the park, where the juvenile suspect proceeded to catch the victim and told him to empty his pockets. The victim refused at which point the suspect produced what the victim and witnesses described as brass knuckles. The suspect told the victim to empty his pockets once again. Other juveniles were yelling at the suspect and told him that they were calling the police. The suspect fled from the area on foot but was located in the nearby area by other responding units. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and witnesses. The juvenile suspect was charged through the Department of Juvenile Services with the following offenses:
1) Attempted armed robbery
2) 2nd degree assault
Due to the age of the suspect and victim no identifying information is being released. The victim was not injured during the encounter and nothing was taken from the victim. No further information is available at this time.
