Detectives are requesting the assistance of the community to identify the following suspects

Update #1:

The Frederick Police Department is continuing to investigate vandalism of the Roger Taney bust at City Hall. The Criminal Investigation Division has assumed responsibility of the investigation and Det. Curt Lege has been assigned as the primary investigator.

At this time no additional motive or reason for the vandalism has been identified. Detectives are working to identify the suspects responsible for this vandalism. Surveillance video from the area shows two suspects acting together to vandalize the statue. The vandalism appears to have occurred shortly after midnight on the morning of Sunday, October 11, 2015. Surveillance video shows two suspects approach the statue carrying a plastic bag with a paint can inside.

The Frederick Police Department is releasing the attached photographs of the suspects and requesting anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspects to contact Det. Curt Lege at 301-600-3918. Anonymous information may be provided to the FPD Crime Tip Line at 301-600-TIPS. Anonymous information may also be provided by text message sent to 240-674-TIPS.

Previous Release:

On 10/11/15 at approximately 0818 Hrs the Frederick Police Department was dispatched to a destruction of property at City Hall located a 101 N. Court St. A citizen passing by noticed a statue in front of City Hall had been defaced. It appeared red paint had been dumped onto the statue.

Officers responded to find the statue in fact defaced. Red paint had been dumped onto the statue causing a large portion of the statue to be covered with paint. The paint was still wet to the touch. Paint in this quantity can remain wet for some time so it is unsure when exactly the vandalism occurred.

The case remains in an open status. The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division will be assuming the case and conducting follow up investigation.
