MEDIA RELEASE
City DPW Assessing Storm Damage
Frederick, MD – September 30, 2015: - The City of Frederick Department of Public Works is currently assessing the aftermath following last night’s storm. A total of 4.5 to 5 inches of rain fell in the City in a very short period of time. The Carrol Creek Flood Control Project responded appropriately to the weather situation protecting downtown from major flooding. The massive amount of rain compounded with very high winds did result in blockages of some storm drain inlets with debris and trash which in turn caused localized flooding throughout the City.
An assessment of the damage will be completed in the next 5-6 hours.
The Department of Public Works is working diligently and thanks citizens for their patience.
