On Saturday, September 26th the Frederick Police Department held a drug disposal event at Harry Grove Stadium.
The agency partnered with Whitesell Pharmacy and the Drug Enforcement Administration for the National Take Back Initiative.
Members of the Frederick Police Department's Directed Patrol Team, Whitesell Pharmacy staff, members of the DEA, the Frederick County Health Department and the Frederick Auxiliary Police were on hand Saturday to collect approximately 1, 161 pounds of unused and unwanted prescription medication. Over 200 cars passed through the drop off area and citizens were provided with educational materials detailing the reasons for safe disposal of unused medications.
This initiative would not have been possible without the tremendous assistance from all the many agencies and the community support.
If you were unable to attend the event, Frederick County has stationary drug receptacles at several drop off locations that are available 24/7.
