Come out and enjoy Frederick’s 33rd Annual In the Street Festival on Saturday, September 12. This beloved celebration shows off all that Frederick has to offer, including art, food, entertainment, and fun for all ages. The festivities begin with the Market Street Mile at 8:45 am, then lead directly into the In the Street Festival from 11 am to 5 pm and end with the official after festival party Up the Creek at 5:00 pm in the Carroll Creek Amphitheatre.
MARKET STREET MILE, 8:45 am
Kick off In the Street with this one-mile run down Market Street. Designed for beginners and experts alike, the run features various heats including Women’s Mile, Men’s Mile, Family Mile, and more! Pre-registration is recommended, by mail or online at celebratefrederick.com. Day-of registration begins at 7:30 am at the Frederick YMCA.
Proceeds benefit the Panther’s Running Club at Lincoln Elementary School, supported by
the Frederick Steeplechaser Running Club and the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek.
IN THE STREET FESTIVAL, 11 am - 5pm
The day’s activities are set to begin at 11 am on Saturday morning. Dapp is an incredibly complex multicellular organism made up of really tiny particles. As
the singer, songwriter, bassist and front man for his four piece "frunk" band, Dapp has built a reputation for the spontaneous and improvisational style of his songs and
performances. Pocket grooves mixed with freestyle jam sessions are brought together by tight arrangements making Dapp a crowd favorite wherever he goes.

Broken Rocker is the quintessential "party band!” Led by energetic and regional singer/guitarist Shawn Johnson, Broken Rocker performs each song with an honesty and flair unmatched in the area. In a musical landscape filled with overnight YouTube sensations and people being famous, for being famous, there is something very refreshing and trustworthy about an artist who counts by the number of miles on his tires, rather than the number of “likes” to keep him in the game. Raw talent and business savvy, have brought John King out of a little mountain town in Georgia’s Habersham County and into the spotlight opening for award-winning artists and playing over 150 dates per year.

Guitar-wielding duo Striking Matches creates an unexpected and unique sound that defies easy categorization. The music of Striking Matches—Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis–occupies that sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock and blues, where all
of the elements blend to form an authentically raw and rootsy sound that has a timeless and international appeal.

Smoke n’ Mangos, 11 am – Noon
Smoke n' Mangos was formed in the small town of Poolesville, Maryland, with the least serious of intentions: to get first place at their high school talent show. They got third. Though they enjoyed playing, they did not think anything else was to come of the band. In the three years since that night, Smoke n' Mangos has opened for GRAMMY nominated and nationally touring artists, played the Vans Warped Tour at Merriweather Post Pavilion, recorded three albums, received radio play up and down the East Coast all while becoming great friends in the process.
The Market Street Big Band, 12:30 – 1:30 pm
Comprising some of the Baltimore/Washington DC area’s top musicians, The Market Street Big Band can enhance any occasion with music reminiscent of the traditional sound of the famous Big Band era featuring jazz, swing and Latin tunes.
Dixie Power Trio, 2 – 3 pm
The Dixie Power Trio is a four-piece group dedicated to the music and sounds of Louisiana. Formed in 1992, the band led by tubist Andy Kochenour and cornet/accordionist Zack Smith has spent the last decade performing for audiences in
clubs, concerts, and schools. In a typical set the DPT will play a gumbo of different styles including zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans jazz, funk, street parade, and rock. The songs are a mix of Louisiana-flavored originals and covers—all with a unique, happy-go-lucky attitude.
Joint Chiefs, 3:30 – 5 pm
The five members of this Classic Rock powerhouse have been entertaining audiences in the DC and Baltimore area for decades. With prior membership in bands performing everything from Motown and jazz to Top 40 and R&B, the Joint Chiefs have the chops to consistently bring rock’s most classic anthems to life for audiences again and again. Expect an eclectic mix of favorites when Joint Chiefs take the stage, including hits from Steely Dan, The Beatles, Little Feat, The Band, The Doobie Brothers and more.

With a slogan of "Frederick MD's premier dance cover band, playing '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s,

Secondhand Ramblers, 1:40 – 3 pm
The Ramblers got their start in 2008 when Scott and JB met while working in a Mt. Airy restaurant. The guys got their start performing at open mics, and eventually moved up to the bar circuit, playing original tunes (they like to call ‘em Americana with a groove) as well as covers ranging from 60’s and 70’s rock, to soul and funk, to 80’s and 90’s pop/rock, all the way to hits of today.
Freddie Long Trio, 3:30 – 5 pm
Over the past decade Freddie Long, whose music has been described as a "t-shirt and jeans blend of pop, rock, soul, and honesty," has come a long way, cultivating local roots into an act recognized throughout the eastern US and beyond.

IN THE STREET FAQ
Parking Recommendations
The City of Frederick has five convenient parking decks downtown. The Carroll Creek, Court Street, W. Patrick Street, E. All Saints Street and Church Street parking decks all offer parking in close proximity to the event. Cost is $6 to park all day on Saturdays. To access the Church Street parking deck, take East Street to East Second Street. There will be a
sign for the entrance to the parking deck on the left hand side of the street. Patrick Street provides access to the Carroll Creek and W. Patrick Street parking decks. The Court
Street parking deck can be accessed by taking Bentz Street to Church Street, and then turning right onto Court Street. The parking deck is located on the left hand side. Handicapped parking is available in all four parking decks.
Street Closings
Most of the roads surrounding the event remain open. South Street on the south end and Seventh Street on the north end of town remain open. Patrick Street is also open throughout the day.
Alcohol
Several areas are conveniently located throughout the event for those wishing to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. Alcohol is not permitted at In the Street except when consumed in a pub or restaurant or in one of the following areas:

Pets
A CITY ORDINANCE PROHIBITS PETS AT IN THE STREET, WHICH INCLUDES REPTILES. Large crowds and loud noises are not healthy for pets, so please leave them at home. Code Enforcement will be on hand to enforce this ordinance.
Participation
All participants must be approved by the In the Street Committee and receive a license from The City of Frederick Office of Special Events. If you are interested in being involved, please call The City of Frederick Office of Special Events to be placed on the invitation list for next year. Code Enforcement representatives will be on-site to verify that all participants display the licenses distributed by the Office of Special Events.
Lost and Found
Event Information Booths serve as lost and found collection sites. Found items not claimed will be taken to The City of Frederick Office of Special Events, William Talley Recreation Center, 121 North Bentz St, 301-600-2844. All items will be kept for thirty days.
Lost Children
If your child is lost, please report immediately to one of the Event Information Booths. Committee members and volunteers will have access to emergency personnel throughout the event.
Littering
A city ordinance (Section 10-2 City Code) finds the throwing cigarette butts on the ground as a Municipal Infraction. Violators will face a fine of $50 and possibly be charged with the cost of clean-up.
Safety Concerns
Please report any suspicious or inappropriate activity to one of the information booths or any event day volunteer. All will have access to promptly contact law enforcement and emergency personnel throughout the park. If you experience a life- threatening emergency, please dial 911.
Rain Policy
The activities and entertainment will stop during the storm, but are scheduled to resume once the storm passes. Please use common sense when seeking shelter from the
storm: don't stand under trees.
