PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY
Title 7th Annual Halloween in Baker Park- October 23rd
Volunteers Needed
Frederick, MD December, 2014: The City of Frederick, Parks and Recreation Department is seeking adult volunteers, families, organizations, drama clubs, civic organizations and businesses to help with our 7th Annual Halloween event on Friday, October 23rd. Rain date will be Thursday October 29th.
If you are interested in volunteering with this wonderful, fun, Halloween event and seeing Baker Park like you have never seen or experienced it before, please contact Nancy Adkins, Recreation Supervisor for The City of Frederick by email at nadkins@cityoffrederick.com or phone at 301-600-6238 as soon as possible. We can help with ideas, costumes and props if needed.
It can be as easy as walking through Baker Park in costume along the path by Carroll Creek, or if you like to act, you can interact with the tours. We always need Halloween Characters throughout the park. Do you juggle, play an instrument, have a bike you can light up with glow sticks…? Make that part of your Halloween character, or are you quiet and like to jump out and scare unsuspecting victims……that works too!
Specifics…
We are looking for tour guides to take groups throughout the park (no scripts to learn), tour guide assistants bringing up the back of the tour for safety, Halloween characters, costume helpers and “Trunk or Treat” cars, with “decorated trunks” to parked along the Carroll Creek pathway in the park. The City provides the candy for the “Trunk or Treat” cars for safety reasons.
Adopt a pavilion - For anyone interested in Halloween decorating with a special theme to go with your character we have 13 small pavilions by the pool area. You can adopt 1 pavilion for the evening, decorate it and hand out candy to tours. Remember the City provides candy to special locations the night of the event.
This is a perfect way for you and your friends, family, group or business to enjoy the Halloween experience and provide an unforgettable evening for our community!
A fun, entertaining and easy to do evening with the City is purposely scheduled before Halloween so it will not interfere with your personal Halloween plans!
