Rescheduled Due to Forecast – Copper Sulfate Application
Lake Linganore & Fishing Creek Reservoir
Frederick, MD – July 29, 2015: The City of Frederick Department of Public Works will be applying 180 lbs. of copper sulfate to Lake Linganore and 4 lbs. to the Fishing Creek Reservoir, to treat taste and control odor causing algae. The copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed along the shorelines.
The work will take place on August 4th at Lake Linganore from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 am, and at the Fishing Creek Reservoir 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Both the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Lake Linganore Association have been contacted and made aware of when this work will be taking place.
In the event of a strong chance of rain the process will be rescheduled.
