The Frederick Police Department is pleased to announce it will be conducting the 22nd session of its Citizen Police Academy (CPA) starting September 2nd, 2015.
The CPA is a free of charge 9-week program designed to give interested persons an overview of the many functions of The Frederick Police Department. Classes meet every Wednesday evening from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be a final practical exercise / graduation day where participates will receive certificates of completion and take part in role playing scenarios.
The CPA is designed to give participants instruction in the many aspects of modern law enforcement such as uniformed patrol, criminal investigations, undercover operations, tactical operations, and various other law enforcement functions. There are numerous interactive and hands-on segments as defensive tactics demonstration, field sobriety testing, and hands on firearms operation.
Upon completion of the program, participants will not be sworn police officers, nor be expected to perform any law enforcement functions; they will, however, have a greater understanding of the Frederick Police Department and how we can work together to make The City of Frederick a better community for everyone.
The CPA is open to any resident of the City of Frederick, person with business interest in the city, and Frederick County residents who are 18-years or older, and have no serious criminal history.
