THE CITY OF FREDERICK WINS BIKE TO WORK DAY CHALLENGE!

The final numbers are in! The Mayors of Rockville and
Frederick threw down a good-natured challenge and Frederick came out on top.

Mayor McClement said: “I want to thank Mayor Bridget Newton and the City of Rockville for their camaraderie. Mayor Newton and I enjoy this friendly rivalry between our Cities. It’s all in good fun and adds a friendly banter to our Bike to Work Day Festivities. We both look forward to continuing the challenges in hope of increasing rider participation.”

The challenge was based on the percentage of registrants compared to last year. Although both cities had close to the same total number of riders this year, The City of Frederick had a 45% increase in registrants compared to 4.3% increase in registrants for Rockville. Total number of riders for The City of Frederick was 404 compared to a total of 436 for the City of Rockville

Bike to Work Day is sponsored by TransIT Services of Frederick County and the Washington Area Bicycle Association. TransIT Services offers commuter resources for those interested in using alternative transportation including public transit, paratransit and commuter assistance services to Frederick County residents and area commuters. TransIT offers bicycle racks on all connector buses and most shuttles to make biking to work easy and inexpensive.
