Every year, the Frederick Police Department accumulates a large number of unclaimed bikes.
Every year, the Frederick Police Department accumulates a large number of unclaimed bikes. When bike owners cannot be identified, the bikes are sold via an online auction.
The Police Department offers a free and voluntary bike registration program. Registering your bike helps us identify it in the event that it becomes lost or is stolen. By registering your bike you give the Police the ability to return the property to you if it’s recovered. Please join with us by registering your bike. It’s free and helps both you and the community by allowing the return of this property to it’s rightful owners.
The bike registration form can be found on the City’s home page under “Topics of Interest” https://www.cityoffrederick.com/index.aspx?nid=519. Simply enter your information in the fields, and click submit to save the information to a database. Certain pieces of information are required in order for us to be able to notify you. (This information will only be used for this purpose.)
Photographs of recovered bicycles are posted on the Department’s web page and can be viewed here - https://www.cityoffrederick.com/index.aspx?nid=519
