Public Notice of the Intention by The City of Frederick to Issue Taxicab Permits
Frederick, MD – May 1, 2015: Pursuant to The Code of the City of Frederick, 1966 (as amended), Chapter 23 entitled “Taxicabs”, The City of Frederick will be making available two (2) new taxicab permits.
A person wishing to obtain a new taxicab permit shall submit to the Taxicab Administrative Agency, on or before May 15, 2015:
(1) A City of Frederick Taxicab Permit Application;
(2) A permit fee of $2,500 in the form of a certified check (refundable only if permit is not granted).
One completed application and associated fee must be submitted for each permit requested. Each applicant may submit up to, but no more than, two (2) applications for this process. In the event that there are a sufficient number of permits for all applicants, then every applicant who is eligible will be awarded a permit. If there are more applicants than available permits, a lottery will be held on or before June 1, 2015. The Taxicab Commission will choose those persons to receive a taxicab permit by a random drawing of names of eligible applicants. Once a person is selected to receive a taxicab permit, the $2,500 fee for that permit is nonrefundable.
Applications may be obtained at any of the following locations:
(1) Frederick Police Department Headquarters, 100 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD; or
(2) The City of Frederick’s City Hall, 101 North Court Street, Frederick, MD; or
