A Frederick man was arrested during a traffic stop after he was found with large amount of suspected marijuana by a Frederick Police officer.
On 04-18-2015, at approximately 215 AM, OFC Sara Evans with the Frederick Police Department's Patrol Division made a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Jonathan Sterling Jones for an observed traffic infraction. Upon making contact witth Mr. Jones, she smelled the odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. As she was questioning the occupants of the vehicle, OFC Evans observed a large mason jar in plain sight on the back floorboard that contained a large quantity of suspected marijuana. Some of the marijuana was packaged for sales. Based on OFC Evans observations and the amount of currency and packaging material she located after Mr. Jones' arrest, he was charged with both possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
