On 03/17/15 at approximately 1:50pm Off. William Sublett, of the Frederick Police Department, initiated a traffic stop, in the first block of Franklin Street, for a driver not wearing a seatbelt.
On 03/17/15 at approximately 1:50pm Off. William Sublett, of the Frederick Police Department, initiated a traffic stop, in the first block of Franklin Street, for a driver not wearing a seatbelt. Upon contact with the driver, Off. Sublett called for a K-9 unit to respond to his location. Shortly later, Frederick Police Officer First Class Michael Weaver arrived on scene with his K-9 partner Bady. A sniff of the vehicle was conducted which yielded a positive alert for the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. As a result, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and the passengers were detained.
Upon searching the vehicle incident to arrest, Off. Sublett located large quantities of suspected synthetic cannabinold, also known as “spice”, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. While continuing to investigate the matter it was discovered the that one of the passengers, later identified Chase Patterson, was in possession of the substance and paraphernalia. Patterson was placed under arrest and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center’s central booking unit for processing.
