On 03-15-15, OFC R. Lawson initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of S. McCain Drive and Hillcrest Drive for a minor driving infraction. Once the vehicle was stopped, OFC R. Lawson and OFC S. Grigsby who arrived to back up OFC Lawson developed concern that the two occupants of the vehicle may have been in possession of CDS. A K-9 was called to the stop and subsequently alerted to the odor of CDS within the vehcle after the K-9 conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle.
The driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. The passenger in the vehicle, Mr. Dameon Davonte Irby, was asked to exit the vehicle. When the Mr. Irby exited the vehicle, OFC Grigsby observed a jar fall from his pants' leg and onto the ground. The jar contained suspected marijuana in a sufficient amount to indicate the intent to sell and/or distribute the marijuana. He was placed under arrest and taken to Central Booking. A photo of Mr. Irby is not available at the time of this release.
