Frederick Police Detectives charge Hagerstown man with rape...
On September 11, 2014 the Frederick Police Department received complaint regarding a rape which had occurred. This case was forwarded o the Criminal Investigation Division for follow-up investigation.
Det. Ames was assigned as the primary investigator in this case. The complainant reported during the month of August 2014 she was forcefully raped by a known associate in the area of the Monocacy Village Park on N East Street Frederick, MD. Det. Ames was able to determine that during the month of August 2014, the victim, a 13 year old female juvenile, and the suspect were spending time together in the park when the suspect forcefully raped the victim. Det. Ames identified the suspect in this case to be Zachary Jordan Crawford, an 18 year old male from Frederick, MD.
During the week following the rape, Crawford was involved in another altercation with the victim and a group of the victim’s friends in the 900 Block of N. East Street Frederick, MD. During this altercation Crawford used a knife to threaten the victims. The additional victims from this incident were also juveniles.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Det. Ames applied for a statement of charges against Crawford. On January 30, 2015 an arrest warrant was issued by a District Court Commissioner charging Crawford in this case. Detectives attempted to locate Crawford without success and determined he had moved away from Frederick.
Crawford was featured as a wanted person in Frederick's Most Wanted on February 22, 2015. Later that day Crawford arrived at the Frederick Police Department to turn himself in on the outstanding warrant.
