The Frederick Police Department would like the community to be aware of a new email scam.
The Frederick Police Department would like the community to be aware of a new potential scam. Information was received to the department that victims are receiving emails from the U.S. Department of the Treasury stating that if they provide the sender with personal information, they will receive $250,000.00 in compensation from the government. The Frederick Police Department would like to remind everyone not to divulge personal information to anyone with whom they are not familiar. It is recommended that recipients of these types of emails contact the U.S. Department of Treasury directly and not respond to the emails.
