On January 20th, the Frederick Police Department conducted Tobacco Compliance Checks of establishments selling Tobacco products within the City of Frederick. This is the second round of compliance checks within the City of Frederick.
Frederick Police Officers, with the help of underage volunteers, were able to check 20 businesses for compliance with state laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors. The Frederick Police Department would like to thank the following business establishments for their compliance with state laws:
- 7-Eleven – 204 Amber Drive
- Amber Meadows Liquors -183-C Thomas Johnson Drive
- Walgreens – 1595 Opossumtown Pike
- Rosehill Service Center – 1561 Opossumtown Pike
- Sung Eun Auto Services – 1297 N. East Street
- Hi-Way Liquors – 6915 Baltimore National Pike
- Weis Markets – 2 Old Camp Road
- Golden Mile Tiger Mart – 1380 W. Patrick Street
- Los Trios – 1306 W. Patrick Street
- Sunoco – 1200 W. Patrick Street
- Freestate – 1180 W. Patrick Street
- Tobacco 4 Less – 1100 W. Patrick Street
- Hillcrest Beer – 1090 W. Patrick Street
- 7 Eleven – 1042 W. Patrick Street
- Get Go – 1000 W. Patrick Street
- A-1 Mart – 649 Himes Avenue
- Jefferson Street Exxon – 400 S. Jefferson Street
The following establishments did not comply with the law and offenders were issued citations:
- Weis Markets – 199 Thomas Johnson Drive
- East Street Liberty – 1301 N. East Street
- Dollar General – 902 N. East Street
This operation was funded by a grant from the Cigarette Restitution Fund that is administered by the Frederick County Health Department, Substance Abuse Prevention Services. Merchant training is available to help in complying with the law and employee training.
