The City of Frederick Announces Release of Transparent Frederick

Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick is proud to announce the release of Transparent Frederick. Transparent Frederick is the City’s initiative to enable citizens to see their tax dollars in action. These intuitive applications will provide the public unprecedented access to the City's financial data.
This is the first government application in the State of Maryland to provide this level of transparency into how government conducts business. Mayor Randy McClement stated “Some governments talk about transparency, but The City of Frederick is now leading the way with Transparent Frederick. We are excited to launch this initiative and allow the public an open look at how we do business.”
The initial release will show citizens where their tax money is being spent. The public will be able to search financial data just as if they were using the City’s financial software. They will be able to follow how money is spent from the fund level to the department and all the way down to the actual purchase order used to pay a vendor.
Over the next few months other features will be released. These will focus on the City’s revenue sources, where money is spent geographically, and what tax dollars are funding.

Transparent Frederick was developed by The City of Frederick’s Information Technology Department in conjunction with the City’s Finance Department. You can find Transparent Frederick on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com/transparent.

If you have questions about Transparent Frederick please contact Matt Bowman, Technology Manager, 301-600-6209.
