City to Hold Food Drive to Benefit Food Bank
Two Convenient Locations Available to Make Donations
Frederick, MD – January 9, 2015: The City of Frederick will hold a public/employee food drive to benefit the Frederick Community Action Agency Food Bank beginning Monday, January 12th and continuing through Friday, January 30th.
Clearly marked bins have been placed in two convenient locations to accommodate those City employees and citizens who would like to make a donation. The bins can be found inside the main door of City Hall located at 101 North Court Street and inside the main entrance of the Municipal Annex Building located at 140 West Patrick Street.
“With the holiday season behind us, it is important that we continue to support our community food bank and those less fortunate,” said Randy McClement, Mayor of The City of Frederick. “If you visit either of these City facilities, please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate.”
The Frederick Community Action Agency accepts a wide range of donations, including non-perishable food items such as pasta, rice, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned meats, breakfast cereals, and other staple items (home canned foods cannot be accepted).
In addition, the agency accepts donations of disposable diapers, baby food, infant formula, blankets, gloves, hats, underwear, and adult hygiene supplies such as razors, soap, toothbrushes, shampoo, and deodorant.
For more information about making donations, please contact Sarah McAleavy, coordinator, at (301) 600-6263, or email smcaleavy@cityoffrederick.com.
