Frederick Police Detectives arrested a man Friday wanted for 1st degree murder in Miami Florida...
On December 12, 2014 the Frederick Police Department assisted the Miami Dade Police Department in regards to a July 2012 Homicide Investigation which occurred in Miami, Florida. A suspect was identified by the Miami Dade Police Department who resided in Frederick, MD.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division began working along with the Miami Dade Police Department and the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department on this joint investigation. The suspect, Renell Demetrius Jones, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant through Montgomery County Police Department for motor vehicle theft.
On December 12, 2014, at approximately 7:25 PM, a Frederick Police Detective conducting surveillance observed Renell Jones exit a residence in the 600 block of N Market Street. Jones was taken into custody at that time without incident on the outstanding arrest warrant.
Detectives with Miami Dade Police Department continued their investigation Friday evening in Frederick, MD and conducted an interview of Jones. Jones was ultimately transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he was being held on $20,000 bond in relation to the Montgomery County Police Department investigation. Jones was also being held without bond as a Fugitive from Florida on the charge of 1st Degree Murder.
