Frederick, MD.-On 08/30/14 Off. Murphy responded to Wal-Mart, located at 1811 Monocacy Blvd, for a burglary report. Through Officer Murphy’s investigation, it was found an unknown person cut the fence to the lawn and garden section when the business was closed. The suspect then retrieved a shopping cart full of items and quickly fled the scene.
Working in conjunction with the Wal-Mart loss prevention employees, Officer Murphy was able to obtain video footage of the suspect and suspect vehicle. Officer Murphy completed a bulletin in the attempt to identify the suspect. Using the information and pictures obtained, a press release was also completed, which led to multiple leads of who the suspect was. Officer Murphy then completed extensive follow-up on this case and, with the assistance of the public, positively identified the suspect as John Scott Earp.
Based on the information obtained through this investigation, Officer Murphy applied for charges against Mr. Earp. A felony arrest warrant was issued and served on the Earp in Howard County, MD on 11/20/14.
