On 09-04-2013, Off. J. R. Thomas of the Frederick Police Department began an investigation into a commercial burglary that had occurred at a local business in the first block of S. Market St. During this burglary, two handguns, two IPads and a small sum of money were stolen from the business. The suspect(s) left behind property and other evidence and a portion of the burglary was captured on video surveillance from neighboring businesses. Off. Thomas through a meticulous investigation that lasted nearly a year and included review of video, interviews, DNA analysis and more was able to identify and charge a suspect in this incident. One of the handguns has been recovered as the result of a separate incident.
On 09-09-2014, the arrestee who was incarcerated on unrelated charges was served with an arrest warrant for charges stemming from this investigation.
