The Frederick Police Department would like to remind citizens that August 25th, 2014 is the first day of school for students attending Frederick County Public Schools. The Department is requesting drivers allow extra time in the mornings due to increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the roadways surrounding schools. Crossing Guards are deployed at intersections throughout the city to help children cross the roadways safely. The following intersections will have School Crossing guards:
N. Market Street at East 15th St 7:00-7:30 AM and 2:20-2:55PM
N. Market Street at N. East St. 7:30-8:00AM and 3:10-3:40PM
Motter Ave at 9th Street (*new location) 7:45-8:15AM and 2:45-3:15PM
Hillcrest Drive and Riggs Court 8:30-9:00AM and 3:30-4:00PM
Madison Street in front of Lincoln Elem School 8:20-8:55AM and 3:30-4:00PM
Waverly Dr and Key Pkwy 8:20-8:50AM and 3:25-3:55PM
Wetherburne Way @Whitter Elem School 8:20-8:50 AM and 3:20-3:50PM
Drivers are reminded to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, follow the direction of the School Crossing Guards, and drive safely especially in and round school zones.
