Copper Sulfate Application Scheduled for Fishing Creek Reservoir
Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Department of Public Works will apply 4 lbs. of copper sulfate to the Fishing Creek Reservoir to treat taste and control odor causing algae.
The copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed along the shorelines. The applications will take place on Tuesday July 29, 2014 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) has been contacted and made aware of the application schedule.
The City of Frederick DPW will have a boat on the water sources and will be applying the copper sulfate solution with a spray bar/wand. There should not be any impact to the public or livestock in the small dosage that will be applied.
