[ARCHIVED] Attempted Strong Armed Robbery

Onh today's date, Frederick Police responded to a reported robbery in progress in the 1000 blockof W. Patrick St.

On 07-13-2014 at approximately 2235 hours, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a business in the 1000 block of W. Patrick St. for a report of a Robbery in Progress. While en route, officers learned that the victims and suspects had left the scene and were now in the area of Danberry Drive.

Subsequent investigation would reveal that 2 suspects approached a group of people outside of the business on W. Patrick St. and announced a robbery. As the suspects began going through the pockets of the first victim the second victim resisted the robbery and began to struggle with the suspects. Another bystander called a third party out of the business who aided in driving off the attackers.

The suspects fled the scene, but one of the victims and the subject who had come to his aid, followed in their own vehicle and observed the suspects go to a residence on Danberry Dr. They watched and reported the location to the responding officers who then found and arrested the suspects with no further incident.

The arrestees are identified as follows:

1. Ferguson, Mark Andrew B/M/01-28-1994
a. 1300 block Danberry Dr. Frederick, MD 21703
b. Charged with 2 counts each of Attempted Strong Armed Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault
2. Childs, William Lee B/M/04-13-1969
a. 15000 block of Mahogany Dr. Gaithersburg, MD
b. Charged with 1 count each of Attempted Strong Armed Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault

As of this writing, the suspects had been transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing and appearances before the District Court Commissioner.
