A severe thunderstorm that passed through Frederick at approximately 6:30pm has caused widespread property damage, power outages and road closures. Frederick Police Department personnel and Department of Public Works crews have been working to clear debris from roadways.
Numerous downed trees created temporary road closures throughout the city. As of 10pm, the following streets remain closed as personnel continue to work on clearing debris:
• Shookstown Rd. between Baughman's Ln. and Montevue Ln. (DPW currently on scene)
• Motter Ave. between W. 9th St. and W. 7th St.
Some intersections in the city may still have traffic signals without power. Motorists that encounter traffic signals that are out or on flash are reminded to treat these intersections as four-way stops. Use caution when approaching inoperable traffic signals and ensure intersections are clear prior to passing through.
