Frederick, MD.-On 06/22/2014 at approximately 7:49pm, officers of the Frederick Department responded to the area of Monocacy Blvd. and Laurel Wood Way for a motorcycle accident.
Frederick, MD.-On 06/22/2014 at approximately 7:49pm, officers of the Frederick Department responded to the area of Monocacy Blvd. and Laurel Wood Way for a personal injury single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a injured male who was laying at the bottom of the roadway embankment and was conscious. After rendering first aid, Frederick County Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene to take over treatment. After talking with witnesses, officers were informed the victim was operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed, lost control, struck the guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Based on the injuries sustained by the victim and the circumstances of the accident, the victim was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 3 to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. A Frederick Police Department accident reconstruction investigator was also called to the scene to take over the investigation. At this time Monocacy Blvd from Laurel Wood Way to Broadband Drive is currently shut down.
Due to this being an ongoing open investigation, the victim's name is being withheld and his current condition is listed as serious. The Frederick Police Department is asking motorist to avoid this area. Once the roadway is opened back up, a follow-up press release will be issues.
