Frederick Police Department detectives have completed an investigation into a child abuse allegation...
On 05/20/14, at approximately 1130 hours, Frederick Police Department detectives were made aware of a child abuse allegation that occurred in the 1000 block of Motter Ave. Det. Doug Ames was assigned as the lead investigator, and initiated a joint investigation with DSS/CPS investigators.
The offender in the case was identified as:
Darnail Warren Jefferson
No fixed Address
Montgomery County, MD
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined Jefferson struck the six year old victim by spanking, punching, and hitting the victim with a TV cord. The child sustained marks and bruises consistent with the assault. The offender’s relationship to the victim in this case is being withheld in order to protect the victim’s identity, but the victim is known to the offender, and this is believed to be an isolated event.
On 06/16/14, charges were issued for:
• Child Abuse 2nd degree
• Assault 2nd degree
The suspect was located in Montgomery County, MD, on 06/19/14, and arrested for obstructing and hindering and resisting arrest by Montgomery County Police. The warrant in the Frederick City was also served during that time, and Jefferson is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
