On 06/03/2014, Officers of the Frederick Police Department made contact with a suspicious male in Mullinix Park and identified him as Jason Roe Sturgeon. Sturgeon was in possession of numerous tools, electronic equipment, cameras and laptop computers.
On 06/03/2014, at approximately 7:30 AM, Officers of the Frederick Police Department made contact with a suspicious male in Mullinix Park and identified him as Jason Roe Sturgeon. Sturgeon was in possession of numerous tools, electronic equipment, cameras and laptop computers. Officers were able to learn that the items were from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 622 N Market St. Officers contacted Habitat for Humanity to inquire about the items Sturgeon had, but they advised that they were unaware of any thefts. Not being able to verify the items as being stolen Sturgeon was allowed to leave.
Approximately 30 minutes later Habitat for Humanity contacted the officers and told them that they discovered that the store had been burglarized. Officers responded to the store and were then able to verify that all of the items that they had found with Sturgeon were stolen. Sturgeon was found a short time later and placed under arrest.
Sturgeon was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. Officers were able to return all of the stolen property to the business undamaged.
Sturgeon was charged with 2nd & 4th degree Burglary and Theft $1,000-$10,000.
